Overview
Stanza is an independent passion project — a community for people who love poetry. We take your privacy seriously and keep data collection to the minimum needed to make the app work. We don't sell your data, serve you ads, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Information We Collect
When you sign in with Google, we receive and store the following from your Google account:
- Your name and email address
- Your Google profile photo (used as your avatar)
As you use Stanza, we also store content you create:
- Reviews and star ratings you write
- Your reading history (which poems you have opened)
- Who you follow and who follows you
- Likes you give to other reviews
- Your display name, bio, and profile settings
If you configure an AI provider, your API key is stored in obfuscated form in our database and is only used server-side to make requests on your behalf. We never transmit your API key to the browser or to any third party.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and personalise your experience on Stanza
- To display your reviews and profile to other members of the community
- To power features like reading history, follow counts, and top readers
- To authenticate you securely via Google Sign-In
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose.
Data Storage
Your data is stored in a Supabase database (PostgreSQL) hosted on AWS infrastructure in the United States. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth, which uses industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.
Third-Party Services
Stanza uses the following third-party services to operate:
- Supabase — database and authentication
- Vercel — hosting and deployment
- Google OAuth — sign-in only; we do not access your Google data beyond your basic profile
These services have their own privacy policies. We do not share your data with any other third parties.
Your Rights
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us via the community page. Upon request, we will permanently delete your profile, reviews, reading history, and all personally identifiable information from our database within 30 days.
Children's Privacy
Stanza is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Stanza after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
